Abstract: We analyze the geographic distribution of Leptasthenura
platensis and L. aegithaloides in Argentina, with special
reference to localities where these two species have been found
together. We present the geographical distribution on a dot-map
showing known localities of occurrence for L. platensis (147
localities) and for L. aegithaloides (148). Both species
are distributed in dry xeric environments. We provide the second
record of L. platensis in Mendoza Province, identifying the species
through the examination of mist-netted birds and by an analysis
of their voice. We confirm previous information about four sympatric
localities, and report a new sympatric site. We also present other
localities in which these species are probably sympatric. We found
that L. platensis and L. aegithaloides are sympatric
or potentially sympatric in Espinal and Monte areas, specially in
central and east-central Argentina.
